Good Morning JT Moore Family from Ms. Dark, your friendly school librarian,
What an unforgettable start to our school year. During this vulnerable and anxious time, I have seen kindness, compassion, and good humor from our community. It seems we are asked daily to adapt to some new challenge and I see caregivers, students, and staff bringing creative problem solving & patience to the table. Thank you. When they open The Book of What Happened in the years to come, I hope our chapter will read “Even on the Edge, They Were Good to Each Other”.
A few important updates for you:
- Stories are still widely and wildly available for reading online or in hand (at select NPL locations). For more information on how to check out books & where to pick them up, click here: JTM Remote Reading.
- If you had trouble with Schoology, Teams, or your computer, we have probably talked on the phone. Thank you for being so lovely while I work to get you everything you need to become tech titans this year. I have a few new tips and opportunities to book one-on-one time with me and a few other experts to troubleshoot tech here: JTM Remote Learning.
- Two talented JTM writers, Maya and Kaira Garcia, are inviting students to contribute to their remarkable book A Middle Schooler’s Guide to Surviving Quarantine: Tips, Tricks & Ways to Stay Sane During This Hard Time. I am editing this jewel and we aim to publish in November. The Garcia sisters want more student voices to make this resource richer! Please consider being a part of this timely work. Guidelines for submissions are here: A Middle Schooler’s Guide to Surviving Quarantine
Even though we are physically apart, I have wonderful things planned to bring our community together. More information will be coming soon about Project LIT book club, ProjectCiv Philosophy Club, and an October visit from Nic Stone! In the meantime, weekly book recs and resource updates are up on Twitter @jtmoorelibrary and Instagram @jtmoorereads. Please follow us to find out about new titles, author talks, read alouds, and community events.
With you all the way to the edge,
Ms. Dark
