Athletics

Athletics can be a highly positive experience for middle schoolers. As part of a well-rounded education, athletics provide opportunities for students to learn how to value physical education, work on a team, follow the leadership of a coach, and take on leadership roles themselves. There are ample options for students to become involved in the sport of their choice.

Students wishing to try out for sports must have a sports physical dated after April 15, 2025, to participate. We cannot make any exceptions to this requirement. Also, students cannot have failed more than one class for the spring semester (based on the semester average) to be eligible to play sports from August to December 31st, 2025 in MNPS.

How can You Help with Matador Athletics?

1. Donate to a sports team. Teams are funded by MNPS and funds are limited. Connect with your child’s coach about how you can support their team directly.

2. Provide rides to games/meets and snacks and drinks on game/meet days. Connect with your child’s coach about how you can support their team directly.

3. Support your teams by attending events! The Matadors are an athletic powerhouse and are so thankful for the support of our fans!
