Hello Matador students and families!

Wow, this year went by in a blink! I hope you are all celebrating the hard work that you did to make it to the end of the school year and starting to get your hearts and minds settled in to summer.

While the last couple of weeks of school were filled with bittersweet goodbyes, celebrations, and all the tasks that come with closing shop, we are stoked that it all ultimately brings us to SUMMER READING TIME! Lots of info below – read when you can!

JTM GATE Students Publish Short Story Anthology
First and foremost, be sure to check out the INCREDIBLE Short Stories Anthology 2021-2022, created by our very own JTM GATE students. They worked all year under the guidance of the lovely Ms. Kovalkova-Mckenna to create these amazing stories that are nothing short of inspiring. It is not to be missed. Well done, students!!

NPL Summer Reading Challenge: Sign Up Through Beanstack!

Students can participate in the summer reading challenge through Nashville Public Library and win prizes for minutes spent reading. This year, students should log their reading minutes using Beanstack, the online reading tracker that’s available through Clever. Be sure to visit our library website Summer Reading page for instructions, including how to link your student Beanstack account to Nashville Public Library.

You can also pick up printed logs for recording your minutes at any public library branch, or at some of our community partners’ locations such as Parnassus, The Bookshop, McKay’s, Conexion Americas, and The Frist. Remember, it’s best to read at least 20 minutes each day. Studies show that even just 20 minutes a day helps you hold on to all the good learning they did all year!
