David Myers – Dean of Instruction, IB Coordinator, AVID Coordinator

David Myers has been at JTM since 2014 and works every day to support instruction for the entire school community. Mr. Myers is a native of Richmond, VA and a graduate of NC State (BS 1993), University of Washington (MS 1995), and Lipscomb University (EdS 2018). Prior to teaching, he worked in environmental risk assessment in NY and as a biostatistician at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He has two sons in late high school and college, a tiny fluffy dog, and has been married to his wife of over 26 years who is a psychologist specializing in autism. When not at JTM, Mr. Myers can be found hiking or working on his bright yellow 1973 Opel GT.

Mr. Myers is passionate about challenging students and teachers to bring their best selves to the classroom every day in order to achieve magic together. As Dean of Instruction, Mr. Myers works to ensure every student and staff member is known, gets high quality feedback at every turn, and has equitable access and support for the best instruction. He believes in the power and wisdom of community and is proud to serve the students and parents of JTM in maintaining a resilient whole-child-centered environment.

Several highlights of his career in education have included leading the 7th grade team at JTM for six years, coaching students to success in local and national math contests, earning the district’s Blue Ribbon Teacher award (2019), serving in the inaugural mayor’s teacher cabinet (2016), and being selected for the first Teacherpreneur cohort (2022) in Nashville.
